Nine billion animals are raised on factory farms every year in the United States. On factory farms, these animals are crowded into filthy cages, stalls or sheds. Most never see the sun, breath fresh air, or feel grass beneath their feet. They are routinely debeaked, dehorned, and/or castrated without any painkillers. At the slaughterhouse the animals are often dismembered while they are still conscious.
